Most people who reach out to me want the same thing: to feel more connected — to a partner, to their own body, or to the life they’ve built.
Individual Therapy
From the outside, things might look fine, but underneath you’re carrying a lot. Maybe your relationship looks great, yet you’re feeling disconnected. Maybe you’re dating and can’t figure out what’s in the way. Or maybe it’s anxiety, a big life transition, or questions about sex, identity, or what you actually want.
We’ll look at the patterns that keep repeating, where they come from, and what you want to do differently. When trauma or old hurts are part of the picture, I draw on my training in complex trauma and Internal Family Systems (IFS) so we can go at a pace that feels safe. Anxiety and old patterns live in the body as much as the mind. That’s why I often bring in research-based mindfulness and somatic tools, like grounding exercises and body scans. The goal is to notice what you’re feeling early enough to pause and choose how to respond, instead of reacting the way you always have.
My practice is LGBTQIA+ affirming: queer, trans, and nonbinary clients are welcome here, as are people in monogamous, polyamorous, and other ethically non-monogamous relationships. I enjoy working with people who are wired in many different ways, including those who identify as autistic, ADHD, or AuDHD, or who wonder if they might be. I also pay attention to how race, culture, and family expectations shape your life and relationships.
Couples and Marriage Counseling
I work with all kinds of couples at every stage: LGBTQIA+ and straight, interracial and intercultural, monogamous and ethically non-monogamous. Some have been together for decades and want to find their way back to each other. Some are a few years in and want to build better patterns now. Some are preparing for marriage. Most want to communicate better: to get through hard moments without losing each other, and to feel close emotionally and physically. My couples work is grounded in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an attachment-based model backed by decades of research.
What surprises many couples is how much comes down to presence and being open: real time together without phones, and saying the vulnerable thing out loud. People often come in worried that sharing hard things will hurt their partner or relationship. Doing just that is usually how couples get closer.
I’ll ask you to notice when you slip into old patterns and to bring those moments in. Sometimes we’ll replay a conversation that went off the rails and take it apart: the pattern, the stories you each told yourselves, what you felt in your body. Each of those is a clue, and a place where change can start. Other times we’ll have the conversation right there, with me offering structure and new tools, so you can both feel what it’s like to really hear each other and be heard. Those moments are some of the most meaningful parts of my work.
Sex Therapy
Pleasure and sex look different for everyone. You get to decide what they mean for you.
Intimacy is closely tied to emotional safety, our histories, and the daily pressures we carry. You might be in a relationship where differences in desire have become a painful cycle, or navigating performance anxiety, pelvic pain, or trouble feeling present. Or you may just want to feel more at home in your body.
Together, we work to:
- Tune in to your own desires and learn to notice and trust what your body is telling you.
- Talk openly about intimacy, desire, and your evolving sexual needs and identities.
- Deconstruct the familial, cultural, religious, or societal messages that created shame or anxiety around your pleasure, so you can define intimacy on your own terms.
- Explore how anxiety, trauma, or stress shows up physically, and feel more at ease in your body.
Sessions and Fees
Individual sessions are 45 or 60 minutes, and couples sessions are 70 minutes. I see clients in person at my office near Dupont Circle, and online for clients located in DC. Fees, insurance, and sliding-scale details are in the FAQ. To get started, email or call me and we’ll find a time.
